The Life and Works of Jane Austen
In honor of Jane Austen's 250th birthday this month, librarian Elaine Provenzano will explore the 18th century novelist's life and timeless classics, including Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma.
Austen's novels continue to be celebrated for their witty social commentary, realistic portrayal of English country life, compelling characters, and examination of love and marriage. Her plots often explore the dependence of women on marriage for the pursuit of favorable social standing and economic security.
